07 — Operating environments

Where the software runs

Hosting choices follow the requirements of the system rather than a fixed preference: managed cloud services where operational simplicity matters, containerised deployments where portability does, and existing infrastructure where an organisation has already invested in it. In each case the environment is described in configuration so it can be rebuilt.
